Ten years of research in the world of materials for Design

The culture of materials for design and the new trends in which it plays a leading role today are analysed in an exploratory way, stretching from innovation in the world of materials and new manufacturing technologies to the Third Mission of the University, through which researchers can play a fundamental role in territorial development. The book presents the research activities of the MATto Material Library of the Politecnico di Torino from 2010, the year its first consulting service was launched, with the support of the Torino Chamber of Commerce. From boosting and supporting innovation by local manufacturing companies to the current and renewed offer of services to enterprises. In-depth knowledge of the domestic situation is the necessary prerequisite to begin new synergistic partnerships and materials become a pretext to reflect on the project and talk to companies about the development of their products and to promote good-practice researches. The research activities are presented as a technical-scientific dissemination tool to share the new trends of the culture of materials for design with manufacturing companies, other research bodies, potential partners of future projects and scholars in the world of design and materials.
