Sinossi

An archaeological collection in the erstwhile homeVilla Lontana enables us to retrace the history of the territory on which it stands, in the vicinity of the Milvian Bridge, through the centuries. A burial complex of the 1st-2nd century AD was brought to light in this area, and the estate was mentioned as far back as the Middle Ages. Originally owned by the Orsini family and then, from the second half of the 17th century, by the Apostolica Camera, which granted it in perpetual lease, the vineyard estate was transformed into an exotic garden, and the main building, acquired its current appearance as a “house of delights”, with contributions by illustrious residents such as Poniatowski, Canova, and Thorvaldsen. The residence today is enriched by numerous fine sculptures and floors of Roman marble inspired by Imperial floors of the first to fourth centuries AD.
